little bits of late.

Ordered a gorgeous blue copy of Vladimir Nabokov's Laughter in the Dark, as well as a few other vintage books. Finding time to read a little more, is my aim.

A few christmas treats, blue crystals and pale pink lace bralettes.

Peach & Ginger tea.
Pretty tea bags.

Fell in love with this fabric I found. Reminds me of Little House on the Prairie.

+ Cooped up in the studio as the Ted Baker menswear project deadline approaches...

Marie Curie / Cloudy friday.

I have a thing against buying books brand new. There's just something so quaint about finding a dusty little book, old and worn, knowing someone before you had appreciated it.

Was looking up Marie Antoinette, and came across Marie Curie. Very far from the Archduchess of Austria, I know, but I was drawn to the texture and colour of the covers, flicked through it and found some lovely little lines.

Saving it for a journey back home..

The White Project - Photoshoot

Here's the final garment I designed and photographed for my first uni project, the White Project.
The silhouette was inspired by dystopian novels by the likes of Orwell, Vonnegut and Zamyatin, as well as glass structures such as vintage perfume bottles. In terms of detail, I worked with the concept of concealing and encapsulating embellishment, having it loosely sit within the sleeves of the jacket and the panel along the skirt. It was by far the toughest project I've ever had to do, but I've learnt so much over the first term and feel a huge development in terms of my personal style, what inspires me as well as my design skills.

Kafou: Haiti, Art and Vodou, Nottingham Contemporary.

Went to the Haiti Exhibition at the Contemporary gallery.
Gained inspiration in terms of the embroidery and embellishment applied to the rugs. Thinking in just white materials - brought back some ideas in terms of experimentation. Initially, I thought the exhibition would allow me to gain knowledge about the spiritual and supernatural aspects of the Haiti culture, and possibly develop ideas for my projects theme and concept, yet that element didn't quite resonate with me as much as the textual components.
